They wanted her to marry a wealthy man. When she went off to one of the top colleges she struggled. She hated school and dropped out. Instead of going back to her parents she stayed with some friends. Friends of lower class that her parents didn’t approve of. She ran off an married a man who was known to be a low life around town. They had 4 children. After this her parents disowned her. It seems over the years he slowly brought her morale slowly but surly, but she doesn’t speak of it. She fell into a deep depression and took her own life due to the loneliness inside.
