Her boyfriend of many years left her high and dry and took a lot of money. A few of her friends were also in on this sick plot. Merri really became socially distant from friends after this played out. Merri never did work but she helped her father out with his company. When her father died and the business was left to her one of the employees became jealous and she ultimately lost her life.
