This lady here is a good protector of her land. This runs deep in her culture and she continues to be very family oriented. Her name is Mitena and she comes from a reservation on AZ. Mitena was the oldest out of 4 children. As a child she remember some very brutal days. Her mother stayed home with the children while her dad was always trying to find work. They had to jump home to home and she still doesn’t know why. The others on the reservation treated her family HORRIBLE and again she’s unsure why as she was so young. Mitena remembers seeing her dad fighting a much bigger man and left him with major damage. She said this event haunted her everyday of life. Her father was unable to hunt their food or uphold the income so her mother had to work. When Mitena was able she got a job on the reservation and helped with the bills. Her younger siblings never had a fair chance at being a child as they looked after their father. Mitena was more traumatized when she was sexually assaulted over and over at work yet had to deal with it as jobs were limited and the family needed money. Mitena was a full on adult by the age 21 and she would never get to live “normal”. Her parents prohibited her from leaving the reservation as they were scared for her safety. Mitena says she doesn’t know how she passed. She just knows she never woke up one day. She often wonders if it was painless or not, it’s as though she has blocked this completely out.
